Netheril's Glory Chapter 28: Sudden change at the Green Festival.

The celebration of the Green Festival was indeed vivacious. It was held in the central square of Konola City. Every major road along the way was crowded with a lot of people. Even though the nobles, who were trying to reach the front of the square with their carriage was loudly scolding the commoners, it didn't hinder people's enthusiasm. All the people were wearing green clothes; because of this, they created a very funny scene, like a pile of vegetables squeezing around on the road.

Punk found out that he can't see the ceremony in the town square at the back, and even the music, which was amplified by magic, was drowned by the noise of the crowd, so he decided to go to the front to take a look.

Although people were very excited, but their excitement didn't lower their fear and cautiousness toward the mysterious and powerful mage. So when they saw Punk walking towards the square, everyone anxiously made way for him. Because of this, Punk arrived all the way at the city square very quickly and never encountered the terrible experience of being crowded like a discounted goods seller on Earth.

On the city square, a horn with a magic circle was playing brisk music. Eight or nine beautiful young girls with slender figures were dancing happily to the rhythm in short emerald green dresses. While dancing, whenever they performed any jumping action, their short green skirt that barely covered half of their thighs was lifted upwards, revealing their beautiful long legs.

Seeing this, some men at the front of the stage let out an outburst of howl and whistle!

Although the people in the distance didn't know why some people howled like that, they still howled with them because of their "herd" mentality. As a result, this kind of grand situation appeared, where all the people in the city were cheering.

Since nobles and professionals were relatively rare, although they all were present near the stage, they were still very inconspicuous among the large crowds of ordinary people.

But Punk had good eyes as a level 2 ranger. At first glance, he recognized Kane, who was "ghosting and howling" with many ordinary people in the crowd. Watching this guy whistling and gesturing to the girls on the stage,

Punk was too embarrassed to go to him and say hello, so Punk simply pretended that he didn't see Kane at all.

"Ohh, this guy actually advanced to the trainee level. It seems he is really talented or holds some big secret"!
Punk keenly discovered that Kane's level of strength was not weaker than his own.

The show was still going on. Although it was not as diverse as the dancing programs on the Earth, it still had a different kind of natural feeling. Even as a calm mage and who has experienced many styles and talented pop stars on Earth, he had to admit that the elegant and lively dance of these girls at the stage was still very beautiful, And Punk felt that the anxious sensation in his heart that has been present since coming to the plane of Pheren have also been relaxed a lot.

………..

"One of the reasons a crisis is called a crisis is its suddenness."
At the climax of the whole celebration, a man dressed in a dark green robe stepped out of a light gate that suddenly appeared out of thin air. He stood on the high stage, although his figure was very tall, from a distance, it looked insignificant and inconspicuous, but no one in the entire square could ignore him because of the terrible pressure that was coming from him.

The air in the entire square seemed to be frozen, the dancing girls, the excited crowd, no matter what it was, it all came to an abrupt end.

Only the loud magical horn was still playing music that no one appreciated anymore. The people in the distance, who did not feel the pressure, also quickly realized that things were not right, and their laughter and commotion gradually stopped. In less than a minute, the originally noisy celebration turned into a weirdly quiet and loud scene at the same time because of the magical horn's nonstop recital.

When Punk felt the terrifyingly powerful pressure, He looked at the green-robed tall man on the stage with confusion and caution.

"An official mage!"
For the first time, Punk felt the suppression brought by the crushing soul level of an official mage,

But there was no time to speculate and lament how unfathomable the strength of the official mage was.

Now he was puzzled about why there will be an official mage here and deliberately release his terrible pressure to interrupt a joyous celebration at its climax.

Punk doesn't think this was a well-planned surprise show. There was only one official mage in Konola City, and that was the head of the mage union branch, "Lord McNeesey"! And his appearance in such a festival with such an eye-catching manner must mean that something significant has happened!

"The Green Festival celebration is now over... All the city guards who are on leave, immediately report to the army."
Lord McNeesey announced the shockingly important news in an unquestionable tone. Then he opened the light door again, then stepped in and disappeared.

With the departure of the official mage, the terrible soul pressure also disappeared. The people reacted after a short period of stupefaction. Loud whispers began to emerge from the crowd, and as time passed, the whispers turned into a large-scale uproar; people's excitement quickly turned into panic and started to spread soon.

Ordinary people may not have much knowledge, but they were definitely not fools; if an official mage appears personally to order something, undoubtedly that meant something terrible has happened!

"Now everybody go home immediately, repeat: disband immediately; otherwise you will receive harsh punishment."

Soon the city guards began to disperse the commoners. Hearing the threat from the guards, the crowd quickly left. Those who opened shops locked the door,

and those who returned to their home also shut sown doors and windows. Soon the originally noisy and bustling Green Festival celebration was filled with an eerie silence.  Just the grass rings left on the road were the only proof that there was a  festival here just a few minutes ago.

Punk returned to his laboratory because he didn't need to leave his house to collect information as a trainee-level prophecy mage.

Punk cast a trainee-level prophecy spell, "mage's eye", which was very helpful for investigating intelligence from inside the house.

A small, almost invisible eyeball exuding very little magical fluctuations emerged from Punk's fingertips. Punk only felt that he suddenly had an additional field of vision.

This field of vision was provided by the magical eyeball. Punk can freely control this eyeball, and it will last for half an hour

The magical eye's vision was almost indistinguishable from Punk's own eyes. Of course, he also has to be careful to not let this fragile eyeball collide with anything, because it has no defensive ability.

Punk manipulated the magical eyeball to fly toward the city gate. Shortly after, the eyeball reached the big city gate, Now Punk can clearly see what was happening on the city gate............

A group of soldiers was entering through the city gate, and there weren't any commoners around it like in normal times.

On the plane of Pheren, the army was synonymous with ferocious greed and lawlessness. Nobles use the army to oppress common people.

So people were too afraid to avoid this terrible existence for fear of offending them. However, for this group of soldiers entering through the city gate, no onlooker was a good thing, because all of them were wearing dusty rough armour and looked very exhausted. And some of the soldiers were even wrapped with blood-stained bandages. Although they all tried to put on a heroic posture, Punk could still sense fear and anxiousness hidden deep in their eyes.

"This is a fleeing army!"
Punk came to this conclusion with absolute certainty.
